The Rail-Mounted Aiming/Illumination Laser (RAIL) delivers versatile, lightweight targeting and lighting in a single, compact package. Choose visible aiming in green, or use the NIR aiming laser for covert operations. The NIR illumination VCSEL offers rapid, independent beam-divergence adjustment for flexible coverage, while the wide-angle NIR LED provides CQB illumination. Every laser has adjustable power, and the unit easily mounts to standard MIL-STD-1913 rails.
Envision Technology RAILc (Commercial Model) Illuminator Output
The Envision Technology RAILc is the commercial variant of the Rail-Mounted Aiming/Illumination Laser (RAIL), designed for civilian and commercial use. It is classified as Class 3R overall, which limits its output to eye-safe levels for non-restricted users (unlike the Class 3B restricted variant for military/law enforcement). The device features two illuminator components for near-infrared (NIR) illumination in low-light conditions when paired with night vision devices:
• NIR VCSEL Illumination Laser (primary adjustable flood illuminator):
• Output power: User-adjustable, up to 5 mW (Class 3R compliant).
• Wavelength: ~850 nm.
• Beam divergence: Quick-adjustable (narrow to wide for long-range or flood illumination).
• Features: Independently adjustable for elevation, windage, divergence, and power; supports dynamic mission needs with multiple intensity levels.
• NIR Wide-Angle LED Illuminator (for close-quarters battle/CQB):
• Output power: User-adjustable brightness, typically up to ~50 mW equivalent radiant intensity (Class 3R compliant; exact mW varies by mode but remains low-power for confined spaces).
• Wavelength: ~850 nm.
• Coverage: 180° field of view.
• Features: Designed for short-range flood lighting in tight environments; integrated with CQB override mode for rapid activation.
These outputs are lower than the restricted RAIL model’s illuminators (which can reach up to 100 mW in high-power settings, similar to Envision’s Squad Aiming Laser system). The RAILc’s design emphasizes compactness (under 6 oz), ergonomics, and compliance with FDA laser safety standards for commercial availability, with power drawn from a single CR123A battery. For precise configuration or updates, refer to Envision’s official datasheet or contact the manufacturer, as specs may vary slightly by firmware.
